Container space from Germany to Durban

Hi,

looks like I am shipping an container from Alsfeld / Germany (100km north of Frankfurt/Main) to Durban South Africa.

Date for departure early September, arrival early Oktober 2011

looks I have some space left to sell. I can help you importing your bike into South Africa , so you dont need a carnet and can sell your bike after your trip.

thanks

Thomas

No cars

Sorry I dont do cars.

Its not allowed to import used cars, trucks or trailers into South Africa. Only for used motorcycles you can get an import permit.

Hi,
Sounds interesting, can you tell how much I could pay for an enduro motorcyle 350 cc. brand Aprilia model Tuareg

Thanks

Moto Zulu 16 May 2011 09:43

Cost

Hi Coguaro,

if you deliver the bike in a crate max. 80cm width and 115cm high and 225cm long to 36304 Alsfeld 750 €uro, if not in a crate + 30 € for used crate, 100 € to fit the bike in the crate, this includes the shipping, clearing in Durban and transport to Port Shepstone

In RSA it would be +/- 20 % import duty and VAT on the bikes value. 115 Euro for the logbook. 35 Euro for the roadworthy. 11 Euro to register the bike and 32 Euro for the licence valid for 1 year.

To get a traffic register certificate to register the bike in your name is for free.

But will be hard to find spares here for the Aprilia and it maybe will difficult to find a buyer as I guess yours will be the only one in RSA. I have myself an 600 Tuareg and I never have seen another one in RSA. But I like the Tuareg I had a 350 in 1987 as my first off-road bike and had quite some fun on it.

And I have always oilfilters for the Rotax (BMW, Aprilia single) engines in stock.

Thomas

Thomas

I have been considering importing a 1200 Multistrada due to the exorbitant prices at the dealers here.

My question: is there any benefit, duty wise, to import used or new?

Erik

New should be no duty. Used you can write a different value of the bike.
