Companions for Niger Nigeria Cameroon February 2008 ; 4 weeks

Hi,
anybody interested to join the following trip in February 2008 ?
My Africa Twin is parked in Niger right now.
I plan to leave Niger 1. week of Feb on to Abuja (maybe via Benin), Maiduguri , crossing into northern Cameroon, Garoua, Mandara Mountains and slowly down south to
Yaounde and Douala (4 weeks in total).
I'd be thankful for tripenhancing information in terms of sights and security
regarding bordercrossings and routes.

Hello Mikeb

I am going the budapest-bamako run in january and have four weeks left after the run and am wondering to take the trip to cameroon.
Did the Norway-vest afrika-cameroon three years ago and it was a lovely trip.
You have to have a visa and a carnet for cameroon. we got told that you could buy a visa at the border at Banki, but we got stuck for three days in house arrest because of no visa, and after that we had big problems getting the car into cameroon without a carnet..
Send me an e-mail and i can send you a message if i deside to go to cameroon. If so, i drive a Landcruiser so i can carry som stuff for you.
But if so, i probably will go thrug Burkina, Benin and Nigeria to Cameroon.

Hi mike,

Your Africa Twin is parked in Niger, are you?

We are here until late Jan thanks to my broken arm, drop us a line if you're around and fancy a beer.

Cheers

4 of us are doing Nigeria to DRC but in late March (20 March 2008 ) departure from Port Harcourt.
Let me know if your timing changes and we can meet up in Northern Nigeria or at Doula in Cameroon.

I took a Landcruiser into Cameroon via Banki in February 2007. No carnet for Nigeria or Cameroon. In Nigeria I was given a free laissez-passez entering north of Kano, which I surrendered at Banki. Asked if I wanted insurance for Cameroon I replied I had it, and was let in. Visa was issued in Maroua within 24 hours.

Hi, and thanks for the replies,
maybe we can arrange to have a beer together with one or the other of you.
Dan, how is your arm ?
Are you still in beautiful Niamey ?
If so, I would be happy to have a beer with you.
I will arrive in Niamey first weekend in February,
get the Nigeria Visa and plan to leave beginning of the first week.
Let me know about your further schedules.
Would be nice to cross Nigeria in a small group.
Thanks for the info Wilco, I've got a carnet, but I will try to get along
with laissez-passez as well.
Cheers
Michael
