Looking for a friend to get across some of the more hectic stuff in central Africa. Rainy season here and think it will be a big one;so am thinking swallow my pride and ask for some support. Anyone going that way?? Be good to here from you. Daniel.

It's possible to do it by yourself if your well prepared. Though it is a hard and tiring slog, but the roads are getting better year by year. I did it in 2009/10 alone.

You may meet up with other travellers in a few key points - like the Sheraton in Abuja (free camping by the soccer field).

Hi Daniel
I'm in Mauritania now heading for Togo on my motorcycle. I started my Around Africa Trip a year ago. I came up the eastcoast of Africa, Middle East, Europe and now back in Africa.
Unfortunately (I regret it now), I sold my motorcycle to an Australian guy who will be studying in Ghana. He has already given me a deposit so the deal is a certainty. Our exchange takes place in Lome in the first week of August. I was planning on flying back to SA or somewhere else since it's still cold in SA.
If the timing works out, and you want a hitchiker, I'll be glad to travel with you for some of the way. I travel on a SA passport (I also have a Canadian one), so after Togo I require visas only for Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo and Angola
I'm a white collar by profession but am mechanical, 'bush' savvy and don't mind roughing it
You can contact me by e-mail if you wish on nmennigke@yahoo.ca
Cheers for now
Neville
