Central African Francs

I have about £300 worth of CFA's... mistakenly thought i could change them in Namibia, yeah, i was wrong and the same with South Africa and now the change places in London just laugh at me! even the respective embassys were not interested!

Anyone have any idea of where i can change them? or is anyone heading out that way and want them for a more reasonable sum?

Happened to me

Just as a reminder to those doing their first West Africa trip. You may already know this but on a practical point there are two CFAs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CFA_franc

The West African version is the one you’ll use the most if coming from the UK but I made the mistake of assuming the two were interchangeable (don’t flame me!). When I got to Nigeria I tried to change the West African CFA in Abuja to Naira and found that they were only interested in Central African CFAs and no one wanted to know. So dump you wCFA for Naira asap.

You also get a very poor rate (if you can find anyone at all) for your Central CFA once you’re south of Brazzaville!
