Carnet required?

Hi

We are planning a motorbike trip through Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso and Ghana. It is our understanding that we will not require a carnet for any of these countries. Can anybody confirm or deny this? Also, does anybody forsee a problem with Visas given that we intend to retrace our footsteps through the same countries - ie are visas for these countries multiple entry or will we need to apply twice?

thanks for your help

Hi there Mike,

You need no carnet for any of the countries you wrote down, as long as you have the french Carte Grise. Ghana tchnically requires carnets but I think they will issue you with their own version, if you don't have a carnet.

Visas should be a breeze to get in each of teh capitals of these countries. Easy easy, I wouldn't worry too much.

Another document listing details such as your vehicle's chassis number, engine number, ownership etc. The AA in the UK issues mine along with the carnet, imagine most of the major motoring organisations will issue it.

Mike, when are you going on this trip? I am thinking of doing something similar towards the end of 2003/early 2004?

Regards
Paul
