Hi,
The Central African CFA (XAF) is the currency in Chad, CAR, Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Congo Brazzaville.
Be sure to change any money you have left over before leaving the CFA zone. We tried changing our about 360 euros worth of CFA's at the Congo - DRC border but the rates there were so bad we thought we would leave it until Angola. Bad move, because we haven't been able to change it anywhere afterwards.
So if anyone needs 240.000 Central African CFA let me know haha.
Regards,
Onno

Hi, from what I recall doesn't Senegal also use the CFA? I am sure they, along with anything else you possess will be more than happy to relieve you of them.

Different CFA

Senegal, Mali, Togo, Benin, Burkina uses a different CFA, it is confusing because they have the same value but the West African CFA is NOT usable in the Central African countries.

Best place to off-load Central African Francs was at the informal money changers in front of the Russian Embassy in Brazzaville, every taxi driver knows where it is and it's safe.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
