Anyone travelled through Northern Kenya recently?
 

Hi, has anyone travelld through northern kenya recently, Moyale to Isiolo. I am interested to find out how the food crises is effectind passage as it passes between two of the worst effected areas . Also Ethiopia and Tanzania any info would be appreciated.

I did it 5 days ago and am now in Addis.

I also met 2 cyclists heading north.

There were no food shortgages but lots of dead cows. One person I meet saw a dead camel but that was further east .

Marsabit has no town water supply as the normal source ha dried up. they have to get it all in buckets and tankers.

There are no convoys on the Isiolo Moyale road *(as there were 3 years ago) but there are still sporadic shifta hold ups on the last Sololo to Moyale section. The last one was saturday 4 March 2006. They stole all the possession/contents of a landcruiser.

Just enquire when the last incident was. Apparently they are running once every 2 months or so now.
