Any good accomodation in Ouagadogou?

Hi guys,
I've to stop there for 1 or 2 nights...
I've read a lot... and many of you had a rest in OK Inn Hotel...
How is it now?
Is it the only reasonable one?
Any other in a good place? Even with camping facilities will be ok!

Thanks!
Ag

My Italian travelling partner refers to Ouaga as the 'poubelle' of Africa ...

I've also been told about the Catholic Mission

place to stay

Hi,

We checked out the mission and it is not so nice! We stayed at a small "hotel" with a confined parking area. The owner is sypathetic towards overlanders and he will let you pitch a tent or give you a good price for a simple room. We camped in our car. I do not remember the full name of the hotel but it got the word "Mango" in it! It is in the Lonely Planet.

Good luck

Noel

I stayed at 'Le Pavillion Vert'. Not too expensive and nice place to get away from the madness of West Africa. Cheap bar and great kebabs across the road.

Catholic Mission...Stayed there Feb 2007...in the Cathedral District next to the BCEAO Bank...

You won't be earning Hyatt points but nice enough, cheap, secure parking, walking distance to Ouaga's huge marche for parts, oil, veggies, strawberries, etc,; and they'll wash your vehicle for you...free breakfast too...

Hotel OK Inn

I just stayed in the Hotel OK Inn which offer free camping, although one should brink a beer once in a while at the hotel. We cooked there for our selves and they did not seem to mind.

I am not sure whether you are on a bike, but a ground tent could get rather flooded there if it rains heavily.

TK's all...
Time is running, and in a couple of weeks we'll be back in Lomé again, starting to north, bringing home the cars (wow! it was years that I was dreaming of it!)
At this point, and reading all your considerations, it's quite planned to get to OK Inn...

I've read here, but also on the net, that this year it's raining a lot (seems too much!) I hope to be able to put my ground tent without buyng a boat for it :-)

Is anyone on our route, from Lomé to Tunis?

Safe sand to all!

Hotel Zaaka, 7000cfa for a double ensuite, centrally-placed. The Catholic Mission were rude when they turned me away.

I'm shocked to hear the negativity about the Catholic mission...and I'm kinda curious why.
I was there in February of 2007 and fell ill with Malaria. I spent almost 2 weeks there and they were super nice and friendly...they even washed my bike for me!
