angola transit visa from namibia.
 

Has anyone out there got a transit visa for angola going north from namibia lately?:mchappy:maybe from oshakati or a weetbix packet,thanks ron.

eeek! just tried to get it in oshakati and was told no problems will take a few days and it will last for 21 days but it cost R2000 (160 euros)..
needless to say i am not in angola and contuing south in namibia which is so stunning!!!

I came up through Angola South to North late January this year. I got a one month tourist visa in Windhoek. It seemed to be a bit of a random process. The official line is that only Namibian residents can aply there but they take your application all the same. You then get told to come back tomorrow. This repeats for a few days and then suddenly you are either rejected or get it the same day. Mine took four days and cost about nearly 200US. Apparenty they don't issue transit visas from Namibia, but getting a tourist one is a rare privilige anyway! The random element is that you may get it you may not. At the same time I applied three other none-residents did the same. Two of us were successful, two not. No reasons given. I think you are more likely to get a visa if you have been away from your home country for a long time. Also, though they don't ask, give them a grovelling covering letter to back up your application and copies of bank statements.

I am currently in Windhoek and was flat-out denied (US citizen; been out of US for 4 months)

Is it worth going to Oshakati?

I have a South African contact who arranges work visas for South Africans working in Luanda - but would prefer not to risk it / wait if transit visa is likely to be issued.

Anyone got any good info?
