Agadez-Zinder-Niamey-Ougadougou
Hi guys, after some advice.
1. Latest road conditions from Agadez-Zinder....still a pot hole mess? Is 9 hours driving realistic (in a truck)? This doesnt seem to be such a problem road as the route from Agadez-Tahoua is (with regards security)....would you guys agree? 2. Are visas available for Burkina Faso if entering on the road from Niamey? Just the usual 7 day transit visa is fine. I have obtained this easily for Mali into Burkina and Ghana into Burkina, but as so little tourist traffic coming from Niger these days Im curious if any type of visa will be availale at this border. Any information appreciated. |
Hi,
Driving Agadez-Zinder tomorrow, I'll post asap afterwards. Sam. |
Easy 6 hours in a 4x4. First half very good tarmac, third quarter some holes, last quarter less holes.
You're supposed to have a laisser passer from gendarmerie to do it outside of convoy. But skip that and buy your toll all the way through to Zinder from wherever you enter toll road system, then just join the road south of the airport (ie don't go through the peage/police CP at southern exit of Agadez). Safe routes. Sam. |
Thanks alot for posting Sam, this is really good news very encouraging. Shame you have to pay to travek outside of the convoy though, I thought this road was considered okay without convoy.
Hope you have a great trip whichever way youre heading, and thanks again for the information. |
Hi,
No money to be paid (apart from normal toll of course) - just a letter. But I wouldn't (didn't!) risk them saying no - just skip the checkpoint and crack on... safe travels, Sam. |
