Advice needed: East or west coast?

Hi everyone from Spain!

I'm currently planning my RTW trip for next May. I'm heading east from Spain, and 1.5 years later I'll face Africa.

Please take a quick look at my trip:

La Vuelta - Google Maps

The big question I have is... Departuring from South Africa and heading north, wich coast is more safe and bike friendly? East or West? Wich one is more enjoyable? Fun? Charming? Can anyone share a Google Map for Africa S/N?

Thanks for your time!

East coast is easier and more straight forward. You are on a well travelled route up to Kenya, lots of tourists in overland trucks going up and down, fairly well developed. Beyond there its a bit more challenging but not that much. West coast is going to be harder and into central / west africa. Depends how much of an adventure you want, both have there merits. Have fun.

I totally agree with your point of wiew. Africa is always hard but East Coast is more normal way to do the South to North trip. It is not a highway (I did not find any other traveller on my trip) but is one of the main roads for trucks and goods(try to avoid the big roads; too many people). And there is Nairobi, and Jungle Junction, a perfect spot to have a good rest and share information among travellers. And Chris cooks very good bbq on frydays.
