Actual visa prices eastside south to north en route ?
 

Hi folks.

Anybody know the recent prices of the visas for a german obtained on the route for ...

Rwanda, coming from DRC

Kenya, coming from Rwanda

Tanzania, coming from Kenya

Sudan, coming from South Sudan

Egypt, coming from Sudan

or

Saudi Arabia transit to Jordan coming from Sudan

Would help a lot in calculating my remaining money to get home :scooter:


I would always take the cheapest visa possible.

All of the above are single entry, and are based on our trip in 2011. I don't think the border you use makes a difference for these countries. The vehicle costs are quite significant as well. Kenya increased to $50 from July 1st for some/all countries - New Zealand had at least.

Buy Comesa insurance in Zambia - $150 for one year for a 4x4. And various road taxs at some borders, you need to add these on too. $40 per month for Kenya, $20 per month for Tanzania etc.

If your in Benin heading down the west coast I'd concentrate on getting to Namibia first as DRC and Angola are causing big problems currently etc

I will not go to Angola nor Namibia but cross the DRC on a boat from Kinshasa to Kisangani and then cross into Rwanda ( if that is possible ) then Tanzania, Kenya, Southsudan, Sudan. I do not have a carnet because originally it wasnt planned to go back home by road. Will try to get transit visa for Saudi Arabia and then ride to Jordan because of this problem . I didnt find a positive report yet about getting into egypt without one, even though maybe it ll be worth a try because the vespa will appear of nearly no value to a egyptian custom officer so maybe just declare it 100 dollar value and import it we will see.

Is there boats to ship the vespa from sudan to aquabar maybe in parts and I travel with a backpack through egypt ?

I ride a 35years old 125cc vespa so maybe I can get around paying some of these taxes and also pay very little for comesa. For example I didnt pay laisser passez for ghana, togo and benin and also dont plan to pay anything for nigeria.

Egypt is 100% you need a carnet, and not many people make it into Kenya without a Carnet also.

You'll probably be fine on a vespa without a Carnet in Kenya, came in two weeks ago on a bike and they asked if I had a Carnet at all (Tanga -> Mombasa). Same goes for Nigeria coming form Benin a year ago by the way.

They were pretty strict with the Carnet at the Zambia - Tanzania border near Mbeya though. Avoided road tax in Tanzania, not in Kenya ($50 for three months).

Never had to get / show insurance for the bike (they asked for it in Gabon once - my medical insurance card was enough :D ).
