Unhappy Vaccinations in Thailand

Like everything else, I have left my jabs too late. I had all the shots when I travelled in 2005 and assumed they were still good. we are off to Thailand in 2 weeks and not enough time to have my rabies, japanese encephalitus and Hep B blood test. Can I get these shots in Thailand? Where do I find the reliable hospitals?

Any help appreciated!!!

Andrew

Any place in Thailand will do your Jabs for you, they even have high street doctors where you just walk in, and nearly all speak great English.

You will have to pay about 250 baht registration fee, but the jabs are really cheap so are dentists.

I'll second that. I live in Thailand (Krabi) and had no problem getting a course of Japanese Encephalitis B jabs a bike trip from Delhi to Leh. The cost was 800 Baht (about GBP 12) for each of the 3 jabs.

I would recommend getting them done in a larger town or somewhere where there are a few 'farrangs' (foreigners) around as the doctors are likely to speak better English. I simply asked at a pharmacy and was directed to a local clinic.

I did need to register to get the jabs, but it was simply a case of getting my name and put on a card. In Thailand, it is usual for people to just turn up at these small clinics and wait in turn to see a doctor. I had the doctor fill in the details in my vaccination book, which also doubles as a yellow fever certificate - this also helps if you are getting a course of jabs so you can take it with you to another clinic and don't have to hang around in the same town for weeks.

Might be worth going to Thailand just to get the jabs!

A guy on another thread on here is paying £230 to the "free at source NHS" for his course of jabs - yes, more of them, but even then.
