Medication in New Zealand

G'day All,
I'm planning a trip to NZ in November 2013 until mid March 2014 (4 months) and drooling over the idea. However I require a medication that is not available in NZ, it is a serious medication and no I don't feel comfortable publishing it's name here (off-line maybe).

Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

BTW, I can provide a heap of documentation to support my use of this particular medication as I am allergic to the version of the same medication available in NZ.

Thanking you in anticipation,

What medication is available in Australia yet not in NZL? Fermented goanna teeth? Dried whichity grubs? Just jokes cobber, no need to reply.

Whatever it maybe can you not just bring it with you if you have documentation? Maybe bring a 4 month supply and leave your stash with someone while you travel if you're uncomfortable carrying all your eggs? Maybe courier a months supply to yourself? I've done that before but not with critical medication. You can prebook pick up dates and monitor the whole process online these days I believe.

Are you sure that you can't source it in NZ? I know it's a quaint little place but we did join the new Millennium along with everyone else.

Otherwise, maybe Gandalf can help you out..?

The outfit I work for sends me a letter every year that basically states that you can bring prescription medication of only up to three months into New Zealand. They don't make a reference to a specific law. I never had to put it to the test either, as I don't have to take any medications.

I have gotten responses from NZ customs before. Worth contacting before you go: New Zealand Customs Service : Contact us

They do have some info on medication:
