i have personally used allianz and its predecessor, access america, for about 6 years. i've nothing but good luck and outstanding service from them. in 2012 when i got hit in nicargaua, my coverage was accepted as 100% and they paid 100% i was not out of pocket at any time for even a penny.

weeks after the accident after i returned to miami, they called me to ASK IF I HAD ANY UNPAID EXPENSES!!! simply fantastic. and they cover more than just medical.

i've heard several real horror stories of about world nomads and would recommend you google them before you send one penny to them.

one thing you want to be extra sure about is if the policy is a reimbursement policy. that is, will you have to pay for surgery, drugs etc and then wait for them to pay you back? this could be next to impossible to achieve if you are on the road, and even harder to fight if they decided to screw you.

find out if they are accepted as primary payment at the best places you are likely to be close to.

Navigator...got a policy for 18 months for a reasonable price only downfall is that need to renew from uk, but we needed ski cover too as working a snow season in Canada and they were the only ones who would for both motorcycle travel and snow sports! Nomads I have been told are quite goid too.

just renewed with world nomads - the price has gone up, and, at least for their australian underwriters, you now have to select 'level 3'(highest) cover for activities if you are going to be on anything that is not a well maintained tarmac road

send them an email first - your response will include a 10% off coupon code (current is WNHELP)

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
