medi fridge in top box
Hi all. A friend has just bought a medi-fridge to keep insulin cool for use on his 05 gs.
We are stuggling to find a place to mount it out of the sun (we live in Spain and it's warming up a bit now. 50c in the sun).
My question is, has anyone tried using one inside a top box without overheating problems? It needs air flow according to the instructions.
Or has anyone mounted one elsewhere on as gs.

I think the easy solution would be to fit a reflective piece of alloy to the outside of the box over a strip of insulation - like the second roof on old Landrovers which absorbed the sun's rays and helped prevent the cabin roof heating up.

Keeping Medication cool
Try the Frio medi fridge. It doesn't use electricity, only water and keeps things cool using evaporation.

Please accept my apologies, as your reply had no text to it only a link I misunderstood that the last remark was a tag on the bottom of all your posts.
My spanish isn't as good as it should be and I thought you were calling me a pratt. (which I actually am now). Again sorry and thanks for your help.

Redundancy
chrisb,

Being so important i would look for redundancy: 2 different ways to keep it cool in case one of the coolers/fridges brakes down, as an emergency plan b.

I am totally ignorant in the field, but if you worry about warm/sunny places (I come from Seville and I confirm it's damn hot now), what about that fridge you mentioned and an easy rollable solar panel with a battery with a 12v plug to place on top of the roof that dave ett mentioned?

I do not know the consumption, sorry, but it might give you an extra time to find a proper fridge and it might work beside the motorbike battery and also extra peace of mind.

Depending on the bike, there may be unacceptable amount of vibration in a top box. you might want to consider a 'net' saddlebag or something similar.

Well, if it helps to absorb the heat covering the top box and also gets charged... great. Check with the maker if you can actually recharge the battery of the ion+ with a plug on the wall, so you have it as a back up to the 12v of your bike always ready (I hope it charges such a small fridge, not only cell phones; check watts, amps, etc, i am analfabeto in the field).
