Travel Insurance Question - Start/End

Hi folks,

A few more month for my trip, currently looking for travel insurance.

Thanks to this forum I've already found a good/cheap one however they require that the trip starts and ends in the UK.
What would happen if I decide to stay longer and would not return in time?

If you think that staying longer might be an option then I suggest that you build that in to your original policy term as it is unlikely that you will be able to extend an already issued policy. Other avenues such as an annual policy (or multi-trip as they are sometimes called) have their own problems in that there is nearly always a limit on the maximum duration of any one trip.

My problem is that I have found a company which works out very cheap but they cover only for a maximum of 1 year. To extend it I would have to travel back to the UK. Requirement of this policy is:

Just to make you aware that you will have to have insurance from the day that you leave the UK until the day you come back into the Uk again.

However I would not return before at least 1.5 years.


My idea was to take this insurance and after 1 year I look for another insurance which I can take out from overseas.

Would this work out?
