Jabs and insurance for Morocco

Do people worry about jabs and insurance when they ride in Morocco?

When I say insurance I’m talking about holiday, travel or medical insurance. I’m not sure how I feel about insurance, every place I’ve ever visited it’s been one of those payment that turned into a waist of money.

Having said that, I haven’t been riding in Morocco or the Western Sahara before.

So, what does everybody do ?

If you do always get insured what company have you used?
How much did it cost?

Regards
Shaun

I'm not giving you advice, but I havent ever taken out holiday type insurance anywhere, including Morocco. I didnt have any jabs for it either, and I dont think you need to.

Morocco in particular is a very civilised country, and on crime rates etc, is far safer than the UK.

Learn some French and just go.

I'm a bit biased when it comes to the subject of travel insurance as I own an insurance brokerage. I have seen travel claims which have literally saved thousands of pounds. It isn't so much the cost of treatment but more the cost of repatriation if you get really smashed up or very ill. Also bear in mind that if you get into a bit of a tangle on a bike you are quite likely to come out of the deal slightly worse for wear and quite often incapacitated.

However, that said, if you are going to the Sahara for some off roading and wanted medical cover then you would have to source (expensive) insurance. I took out some expensive off road insurance in 2000 for an off road trip in Nevada - broke my wrist and was glad that I had it.

Anyway, it's a free world and loads of folks travel without travel insurance quite successfully so you just have to ask yourself the question.... "Do I feel lucky ?"

Insurance

I went to Morocco back in april traveled all the way round by motorcycle I would not dream of traveling with out some sort of insurance. The Post office do one for a good price tell them you are traveling overland on your motorcycle and it is over 125cc and there will be no problem. Haveing traveled across Morocco some of the driveing is an experiance in itself,As for the jabs have them you dont need them but once you had them you are coverd for other places. Talk nice to your gp I had mine for nothing. Then go and injoy its a briliant place to go by bike

I agree with PASSING PHASE and strimstrum I went to Morocco last year with my wife and wouldn't not have felt happy on the trip without some sort of insurance

I say have the jabs and the insurance and then you can enjoy your trip :scooter:
then the worst thing that could happen is you wasted your money
Got the jabs free from my local Doctors by the way

Thought for the day Morocco is a long way from the I.O.W. :eek3:
