Getting drugs in Mexico

i'm sure the answers are somewhere on here, but i haven't been able to locate them.

i have 3 ciprofloxacin and 7 larium pills, which were very expensive. i'm hoping to travel for a year and i'd like to get more of each, as well as a strong pain killer (just in case).

do i need a prescription to get them? does this need to be written by a mexican doctor?

the doctor who diagnosed me with lyme disease in 2003 (after 2 others misdiagnosed it), recommended larium. i'm aware of the risks related to this drug, and i'm not certain i'll use it.

are all of the anti-malarials equally available?

if there's a thread that already answers these questions, a link would be much appreciated. thanks

Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic used in treatment of traveller's diahorrea amongst other things. It's normally used in a course of 500mg twice daily for up to three days, however it's generally best to let nature take its course and only resort to antibiotics if it doesn't clear of its own accord.

It's worth noting that many instances of upset stomaches are down to lack of basic hygiene (such as washing hands before eating) on the part of the traveller.
