Flights -how to stop picking up a cold on route

Just a thread to pick peoples experience. Over the years I seem to pick up colds on flights - some people said you can't avoid it due to recycling of air, Ive no idea how the air system works in a plane but I do seem to pick up stuff. Last month on a flight to Egypt I took some tea tree oil, put a few drops on a Buff, pulled it up over my nose bandit style and breathed in the oil. Guess what, a trip without a cold. Was this just luck or is tea tree the the stuff Ive missed all these years? Anyone one else used this or other remedies?

Dunno about that.. you could always wear a facemask on the plane or maybe a Hazmat suit ;)

Look, here you are at Customs :Beach:

In all seriousness, It's going to be the same with any confined area full of people with recycled air. I reckon it's more likely that you're coming into contract with people from different counties with their own strains of Virus that your body isnt used to. Just like why you get food poisening in foriegn climes while the locals are just fine.

Add the fact that in an airport you're usually run down, tired and stressed, your immune system isn't at it's best !

Best you can do is stay healthy, take codliver oil and vitimin C if you don't get enough in your diet and keep away from sneezing people.

Wash your hands regularly too.

With the on going BS, can you take the Tea tree oil on th plane,or do you use it the 2 hours plus before boarding???? A few years ago Heathrow was ok about me taking 2 stroke oil on my flight to Belfast but Irish security had kittens about my on-going flight to the Isle of Man carrying the oil.

The best rememdy i've heard is to rub vaseline over your nostrils, this stops any bugs from getting in there and giving you a cold.

On short flights, maybe holding your breath is an option.
