First Aid Items

I'm building a first aid kit for the bike. I'd like to know what most of you carry in the way of first aid items.

Cheers, Bill

In my riding jacket I carry a "Brave Soldier Crash Pak",ready for immediate use.In my panniers I carry a bigger kit, stored in an Ortlieb waterproof first aid bag containing at least the following:latex gloves, alcohol wipes,tape(1/2 inchx 10 yards),4x4 gauzes, moleskin, tweezers, gauze rolls, assorted small bandages, safety pins,Betadine pads, net gauze,Benadryls,Motrin, elastic wrap, after bite lotion, antibiotic ointment, various wound dressings, and meds for local conditions.

I split mine into two--accidents and sickness. The accident one is packed near the top of the bags.

SICKNESS MEDICAL KIT
thermometers
syringe and needles
Co-proxamol (pain control)
Paramol (paracetamol +)
Asprin
Ibuprofen
Voltarol NSAID
Piriton/Triluden antihistamine
Ventolin inhaler
Witch hazel (bite/sting)
Lanacane anesthetic cream
Optrex eye bath, Opticrom eye drops
Sudafed decongestant
DayNurse cough medicine
Imodium anti-diarrhoea
rehydration sachets
Ciprofloxacin antibiotic
Amoxicillin antibiotic
Metronidazole antibiotic

ACCIDENT MEDICAL KIT
TCP antisetic liquid
antiseptic wipes
sterile field, gloves
scalpel and spare blades
scissors, tweezers
suture kit
duct tape
micropore tape
2 cohesive support bandages
2 9x25 dressings
3 10x10 dressings
3 8x6 dressings
3 5x5 dressings
4 8x5 gel dressings
variety of fabric plasters
variety of compeed plasters
thermal survival blanket

If I was reducing the accident kit in size I would concentrate on antiseptic, a couple of dressings, duct tape and cohesive support bandages, plus thermal blanket.

Don´t forget the condoms! Not so much for sex but good for burns and puncture wounds. For burns (normally to hands) they are excelent for keeping the area clean and sterile. All that spermicide! For puncture wounds (i.e. fo rthe chest) they will seal the area idçf you blow them up like a balloon and insert into the hole!

Cling film also works!
