cheap jabs
 

Can anybody recommend a clinic that doesn't charge and arm and a leg for jabs, just the usual stuff,Ty,Hep A+B,Rabies,Dip,Yell ? My local wants £600 for me and the Mrs.

Don't know if the Uk has similar but in Belgium you can get them pretty cheap at the institute of tropical medicine. ITG - IMT - ITM If you are staring at £ 600 each then a weekend break in Antwerp it might be worth your while - enjoy the weekend and save some money.

To be honest, I didn't ask, just in case it was a mistake. I had seen "menus" in other surgeries quoting about 250 quid for what I had. (I didn't have the rabies shots)

Free Jabs
 

Me and the Mrs. are getting our innocculations FOC from our local travel clinic (Cosham, near Portsmouth). All we are having to pay for is the Yellow Fever, because it is Certificated, about £50 each if I remember correct and our Anti Malarials. We also had to pay prescription charge (£7.50 each) for our ACWY Meningitis jabs but only because they didn't have them in stock. So worth looking up your local Travel Clinic and giving them a visit.

I'm a Nurse and we don't charge for holiday vaccinations - some other practices do. I'd phone a few local clinica and move practice to one who won't charge you. We don't do yellow fever but the clinic that does is not expensive. Vote with your feet.

We have had lots of jabs over the years and our experience is:
Yellow Fever =£50 each - have to pay, no cheaper deals.
Rabies = expensive - have never had it done; if you get bitten you just need to get treated quicker, I believe!
Hep B = as above
Japanese encephalitis = as above
All others = free at our doctors

Anti malarials - private prescription for Doxy, Malarone or Larium - but shop around chemists - our local independant one charged half the price of Boots, Asda, etc for doxy.

Hi, I went to the local Masta clinic and yellow fever was £45 others £35 or £30. www.masta.org gives good info but I don't see costs online. Linzi.

Hep B £120
Hep B booster £ 50
Rabies £140
Jap enceph £150
Jap enceph boost £ 50

Typhoid, Hep A and Polio are covered by NHS

Matt, that's about 50% more than I was quoted and I thought my local was a lot of dollar

Just a tip for people who live in the UK.

You can get Hep A + B vaccinations for free at a GMU clinic. Of course don't tell them you want them for travel reasons :thumbup1:
