Antiobiotics, prescription medicine & travel shots in the UK

I am travelling through Eastern Europe in a few weeks and want to get a medicine kit together. I'm happy with a standard one but want to also add in some general antibiotics (for the nasty germs that aren't scared by anything else) and some strong pain killers (cause lets face it, parecetomol can only do so much!). I also need to get all of my shots.

Now (if it were easy, my life would be so boring), I am not registered with a local doctor - and anyone in London will appreciate what a mission that is going to be, so need to get some presciption drugs without going to a local GP.

Is there somewhere (in London) that I can get my shots done and get some top up meds to take with me, without paying massive consultation fees and huge amounts for the travel vaccines??

Thanks GSJason, but I was looking for some advise on a good travel clinic, or a practice that I can go to (without having to register because it can be a time comsuming headache).

Any travel clinics that don't cost an arm & a leg that I may also be able to get a prescription for antibiotics and pain meds from?

Thank you!

Have you tried "British Airways Travel clinics"? I used it once for jabs and malaria tablets they're good and not too pricey. You still would have to pay the jabs with your GP anyway .... check here:

Excellent! Thank you!

I was also looking into going to UCLH (University College London Hospital) to their tropical diseases wing where they have a travel clinic.
MASTA & British Airways look an easier option though.

Ooooh, gonna need a few though - eek!

You´re right to consider all this but don´t worry about it all too much. Get the jabs butr don´t worry too much about the antibiotics. For one thing they only keep for so long on the road but more importantly you´ll find that most of the countries you´re traveling through have less strick rules on this kind of thing so its easier to pick them up over the counter in bigger cities. A doctors visit if needs bee will cost you next to nothing too. My advice would be to get them as you need them. We´ve been on the road in Central / south America for 18 months now + previous trips round all of Europe and found its just besat to get the stuff as you need it.

Have fun
Chris
