anti-malarials for trip through mauritania and mali
Which one should we use for travelling in both Mauritania and Mali for a period of about 4-6 weeks?

Hi Rejean,
Personally due to expense/side effects and lack of effect, I do not take prophylactives anymore, I would look at "Artemisinin", also known as "sweet wormwood", put it into google and make your own mind up. Won't prevent you getting it, but seems very effective in killing it, Tim S |

My best tip si to have a gin-tonic to every meal(-at least..)! The mosquitos hate the smell of kinin wich is in the tonic. The kinin surface the skin when you sweat. Never tried it without the gin but theoreticly it could work!

But another questions is where to get gin-tonic on those areas - as we know - alcohol is strictly forbidden in muslim countries. But good thing about it that there's always a way...
Mali is very multi-cultural country, and i think tere it isn't any problem. Mauritania is very muslim-oriented i think - keep it private. [This message has been edited by Margus (edited 28 October 2004).] |
