Has anyone ever done an organised bike trip in the himalaya's?
just wondered if anyone could reccomend a specific tour or company they have experience of.

Errr, yeah you know the Himalayas crosses several countries so the company you chose is going to depend on where you want to ride. I'd recommend either Manali, Leh, Ladakh in India or anywhere around Pokhara in Nepal.

Rick at Hearts n Tears motorcycle club in Nepal was a RTW rider who stopped in Pokhara and setup a business building custom motorbikes and taking people on tours. He knows the roads round here very well but wont give out maps (too many companies want to steal his routes) Hearts & Tears Motorcycle Club Pokhara, Nepal :: Bike Adventures In The Himalayas





Mr Marley hotel at 3700, he apparently stayed there once and a river crossing on the way back from the hotel. This was the "road" from Beni to Mukthinath. Great fun!

lots of clubs and companies are organizing tours and rides in himalayas including Royal Enfield. They are all good, but then you are riding in a group.
Not everyone's idea of good ride...

hi, i did the ladakh tour 2007 and the nepal tour last year with the form sponsor. (Motorcycle Tours Asia - Motorradreisen in Asien - Viaggiare in moto in Asia) they claim to do guided tours as close to private tours as possible. for me it worked fine. of course it there is a group (and mine where nice) but you are riding pretty much indepened if you want. worked fine for me anyway. met moniek of a.m. hearts.. in pokhara. nice chat, bikes a little on the "old side" but seemed well maintained.
ah yeah... what i almost forgot ... ladakh is terrific!!!!!! and NOT JUST the worlds highest motorable road...

The Indian Himal loop (Manali, Leh Srinighar) is quite easy to do independently & it's easy to hook up with other riders. You can buy a bike for $500 to $1000, no real paperwork required or you can pay a lot more to rent.

Nepal is also quite easy independently. The Tibetian side is much more difficult , but can be done on a local bike (you'll be travelling illegallly) for cheap. A companies only offer sporadic trips from Nepal & they cost a fortune. Bhutan is likely impossible. If you are considering the entire Himalayan complex (adding the Karakoram, Hindu Kush and Parmir) you'll have your work cut out for you.

I'd be happy to tell you what I know if you can narrow it down and provide more details.
