Travel Insurance Iran, Pakistan....?

Hi,

I'm travelling overland to India and beyond on R100GS - leaving UK in August. Problems are arising with Insurance for this route due to the fact that Iran, Pakistan, AND India are on the FO website as countries which 'absolutely no travel is recommended'. Ha!

Anyone doing/done this route and can put me on to a more open minded Travel Insurance company?

Much appreciated.........

i had the same problems as you before ...

i just called my insurance :

normally, iran and pakistan are NOT included in the "green card" (car or bike insurance in europe). well, in france, it s like this. uk ?

there are many hidden rules with insurance companies (differences between damages caused to you, to your bike, to others, third party, assistance, etc ... like over 3 months consecutive outside of your country, you re not insured any more, etc ...), watch out carefully when you buy your contract(s).

i tried to make it a bit clearer on :
http://vincent.danna.free.fr/infos/assurances.html
you can translate with : http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en

if it can help

since we all share the same problems about this insurance thing, check the posts before (search function), maybe you ll find solutions.

Same problem here... We'll just wait and see what goes on the border.

Sounds like we are doing pretty much the same trip at the same time, so maybe see you on the road!

Re: World Nomads

They will NOT cover you whilst you are in +any+ of the countries on these 4 lists:
http://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/Front?...=1095423800990

So currently their policy does NOT cover you in the following, which you may assume you would be:

Thailand(!)
India(!)
Indonesia
Ecuador
Philippines
Russia
Uganda
Sri Lanka
Nigeria
Bangaladesh

etc etc

Their reply after several emails was:

"Hi Darrin

The exclusion extends to all 4 categories and it may change at anytime whilst you are away. The Emergency assistance team will attempt to do anything they can to assist you but please bear in mind that in volatile areas it may not be possible for them to attend to you and in extreme situations the British Government will be responsible for evacuation."

I had asked them if exclusions were for FCO warnings for the whole country, or just parts of them. Seems if one part of India has problems, your insurance suddenly becomes invalid.

For me they won't cover Mali at the moment, so I'm fairly tempted not to bother if I can't find somebody to cover me there.
