Singapore Motorcycle Rental

I am looking to take a short 2 week motorcycle tour Singapore - Malaysia - Thailand and return in September or October 2006.

Does anyone know of a motorcycle rental firm in Singapore who could rent me a suitable bike? My preferred bike would be duel purpose about 500cc to 750cc.

Singapore Bike Hire

Look up Steven Lee of Ideal Motor Sport, Singapore, he used to hire bikes. Think the website is www.idealmotorsport.com.sg. Say hi from me and enjoy your time in Malaysia. Check out the Simpang Pulai - Cameron Highlands - Grik road for some fun.

PS We're coincidently just North of Cairns at present - I sitting here in Mossman.

Singapore bike rental

I am planning to go to singapore in november and so I'm looking to rent a bike and go on a tour. Unfortunately the link in the above massage promises a lot but delivers nothing. After calling and sending two emails to Ideal motorsport I was informed that due to insurance issues all activity had stopt around Adventure Tours. Too bad offcourse but now I'm looking for an other option. Any Ideas? I'm all ears because I can't find any options.

So,
Kind regards,

Mat

Rather than renting in Singapore - certainly the most complicated and bureaucratic of all the countries you want to go to - why not fly into Thailand or KL and rent and ride from there?

Motorcycle rental

Hey Grand Johnson,

Tanks for the quick repley. The ticket to Singapore is a freebee so that's why the starting point is in Singapore. I've been on my bike alle over Europe and in the US. Never, but really never was is this hard to rent a bike anywere, haha . I think you are ever so right. I'm making things difficult for myself.
The new plan is flying to Singapore, going by train to Johor Bahru or KL and rent a bike there for a tour around Malaysia. It you or anyone else has any good adresses, webliks or something else, please feel free to share. Anything is welkom since I'm better at riding a bike than I am at websurfing (just barely )

Greetings from a rainy northern Europe!

Loads of info on the links page - ling to it is on the left - not all but a good chunk of the larger or better known rental companies are listed there.

In Thailand you can find a bike rental just about anywhere, hundreds of small ones. Just arrive and you'll have no trouble. Also contact the Communities - again, link on left and let them know you're heading their way.

Cool buying a bike in Singapore

Hi all,

I gave up on finding a bike rental company in Singapore. Due to changes in traffic regulations it is nearly inpossible to get insurance on a motorcycle if someone in driving it besides the owner of the vehicel.
The companies I had contact with all told me they stopped renting out bikes 'till further notice.

But, not giving up, I contacted the biker community in Singapore and they really helped me out. There was even one guy offering to lend me his bike

After a couple of emails I decided to buy a motorcycle there. Ít seems that the bikes are very cheap there. The same go's for insurance and roadtax. That is, comparing it with Europe.

Insurance is in most cases valid for Singapore and Malaysia. In Thailand you are expected to get additional insurance. I figure that will be not problem when I'm over there. In november it'll be monsoon season so I'm in for a wet surprice, haha. It'll make the trip more of an adventure I hope.

So all's well that end well. I'm flying over there the 2nd of november. Thanks again for all the help!

greetings
Mat
