Shipping Malaysia / Indonesia to the US

Hello everyone, change of plan now means Australia is a no no so we are looking to get to California from SE Asia.

Anyone have experience shipping this route from either Malaysia or Indonesia. Rough costs from either?
Difficulty,helpfulness of ports?

Any advice on how to find out this information would be useful, have spent all day searching on google but cannot find anything concrete.

Hi Martin,

We recently shipped our bikes from Port Klang to North America (Vancouver in our case). We looked at lots of different shippers before choosing. In the end we went with Crown Relo who are based in Kuala Lumpur. They were one of the cheaper options, not the cheapest, but they were certainly the most professional and reassuring - something that mattered to us as we didn't want to spend months waiting for a delayed shipment in the US or Canada.

Crown Relo specialise in home/office moving but can do anything. They've also got offices all round the world so can, for a fee pick, pick up your crate at the other end and do all the customs work for you. We opted just to pay for the service at the sending end and managed the Canadian side without any problems. The whole thing was professional from start to finish and our shipments arrived dead on time.

Drop Henry a line at htattersfield at crownrelo dot com and tell him James & Emily say hi.

Hope that helps...

malaysia-durban

We shipped last april from Malaysia to Durban, 2 bikes cost us 844 euro.
And the custom clearance and paperwork in South Africa 986,50 euro.
The contact in Malaysia itself was very nice and straightforward, the company is run by Abul and Assir, 2 brothers. Assir does a lot of adventure traveling himself.

Only at the other end we got a delay of more than a week in receiving the bikes and finding an agent to get the bikes out of the docks gave us a headache......

Good luck and happy travels,

Els
