We went with Blazing Trails last year. Thoroughly recommended. Full backup if you need it, very professional and the bikes were in excellent mechanical condition.

Thumbs up

Dave,

take a look at Venture On Wheels - Motorcycle and Adventure Tours in India and if you fancy it, tell Anji or Asheesh that John sent you the link. I spent about a month with them in Aug/Sept.

You will love it.

John

North of India is a BIG place!

The usual circuits are the mountains, usually Delhi manali Leh Kargil Srinagar Delhi (with minor variations). At a leisurely pace, this would take two weeks, perhaps, a bit more. Problem is, the time envelope for this is June to early October, as the route is partially snowbound the rest of the year.

The other popular north India circuit is Rajasthan, north UP (Taj Mahal, etc). However the best time for this would be Nov - end Feb. Unfortunately, July - Oct is the monsoon (which can result in the trip becoming more of an adventure than originally intended).

North India tours

Hi , Do you still want to know about North india tours? I completed 10,000kms in Mid Dec 07) from Delhi/Kashmir/Uttar Pradesh/ Uttaranchal/Nepal/Sikkim/Bhutan/ NE tribal states to Bangladesh border. Previously covered 9000kms in 2005 in NW, NE and SW India by RE Bullet as an individual. Lalli Singh in Karol Bagh, Delhi has professionally prepared all my bikes. Never been stopped mechanically. He can answer all your questions. Contacts are in Lonely Planet. A reputable man.
Locally Mike Ferris has had only good feedback from anyone I've spoken to who has been on a tour.
Email if you still need more info.

I think he is looking for a tour company that take cares of all aspects of the trip rather than a self guided tour.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
