Flying a bmw from Delhi to Bangkok and shipping from Singapore to UK

Hello All,

Having just had our journey time extended we are now trying to fly our BMW 1150 GS Adventure from Delhi to Bangkok at the end of January.

We will then ship it back from Singapore or Malaysia to the UK at the end of March.

Does anyone have any up to date information on either of these shipments?

Many thanks,

Nick foulerton

Hi Waterloo

We were in the same situation 18 months ago - BEWARE of people who claim to be able to help as we lost some money when basically an airline accepted the bikes but insisted we also had tickets which we brought, then 2 days before departure the airline refused to accept the bikes at the airport due to them being classed as dangerous cargo, we couldn't get a full refund on our tickets.

In the end we used Kaulston racing who import/export foreign bikes and they arranged it all - tickets, customs etc. Cannot highly recommend them enough.

Theres also a guy based in Delhi who writes for the BIKE India magazine called Bunny - his details are listed in the community section I think, and he is also on hand to help bikers in return of some photos of yor bike.

If you get stuck then contact me as I may still have their numbers somewhere.

Good Luck

Information on Dalhi to Bangkok

Hello BMW Bec

Many thanks for your reply, I will try to chase these contacts you have kindly given. I am not sure if I can contact you directly but I would appreciate any contact details you have and the rough cost of flying the bike, in order to have a benchmark to work from.

Kathmandu to Bangkok is really rather simple and reasonably cheap, I suspect Delhi will be neither!

Many thanks and my email is; foulerton@hotmail.com

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
