Police permit in Indonesia
 

Hello,

just wondering , how does an Indonesian Police Permit for "big" bikes look like,
because i want to cross from Malaysia to Indonesia and want to be "prepared"
if someone has an image please share,

Just a typed up doco from the police stating your route - the islands you intend to ride through. Customs will point you in the right direction.:thumbup1:

We never got this "police permit" that you are mentioning, only needed a carnet to enter Indonesia. We were never asked for it either.

Personally, I would not bother with the police in Indonesia unless you absolutely have to, these guys are horribly corrupt. You may create big issues for yourself if you voluntarily go to the police. There is no reason to get extra documentation unless it is specifically asked for when you enter the country. And don't enter Sumatera at Dumai, moto-travellers have been turned away here lately, Belawan is a better option.
