Philippines

Hi guys,

Back in reality and looking at what to do with a 2 week holiday in January.

Never been to the Philipines and wondered whether there is some good biking there? Is it possible to rent a bike there and what sort of machine is available?

Great coastline, the famous rice terraces and some incredible diving are all I know about the country. Oh yeah and it's the jeepnies that are trying to run you off the road there.

Any info most welcome. Doesn't seem a popular posting topic given it's not an overland route.

Thanks.

Matt

Do a search at www.advriders.com I'm sure I've read reports of riding in the Phillipines. There may also be a regular member who lives there who may offer advice & help?

I am planning a 4 week tour of the Philippines for November 2005. Check out my bolg at

Since purchasing our bikes in the Philippines, a new motorcycle hire shop has opening in Angeles, north of Manila. Their web address is

http://www.nice-bike.com

Their rates are very reasonable, however insurance is not available. If you damage or loose the bike, you pay.

HU also has a community member in Manila who is most helpful (also a member of the Motorcycle Philippines forum). Go to-

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/com...tEnglish.shtml

Select Philippines and then go to the bottom of the page and send your message.

This will put you in contact with Martin (Herc) Gino, a Filipino and avid motorcycle tourer of the Philippines. If Martin cannot answer all of your questions, he knows who to contact to get them answered.

The Motorcycle Philippines web site is good for information, although it can be difficult to get the correct answers to your questions. I would recommend that you ask your questions through Herc.

Rene Ybardolaza, a Filipino now living in Southern California, spent some time in April 2005 touring the Philippines on a borrowed BMW bike. For his story see-
