Pakistan - safe car park?

Does anyone know somewhere safe, probably in Islamabad / Rawalpindi, where I can park my car for a week whilst I have to fly back to the UK for a week in August (assuming I can get a multiple entry visa?).

Try the Mercedes Benz agent. They helped me straighten my bike's frame back in 1989 and I seem to remember that they had a lot of space then. Your car parked alongside some Mercs should make it perfectly safe.

When I was in Pakistan in 2003, there was at the east end of town in Islamabad, near the diplomatic area a very secure-looking car-park, where one catches the bus to get into the diplomatic enclaves. I don't know how much it would cost though, but I doubt it would be much.

To be honest, I would feel quite happy leaving a car in any reasonably large car park or similar, perhaps outside the Shah Faisal Mosque? - there would always be people around I should think.

I'd feel less happy leaving it in Rawalpindi, not that it might get stolen or broken into, rather that it might get his by something.

you could try your embassy, the UN or those embassy UN clubs, or people leaving working there.
(i was travelling and working in pakistan from january to septembrer 2003), i know islamabad a bit but no real idea otherwise. there s also a camping area for foreigners, where many overlanders stay, not far from the diplomatic area.
for example, french embassies don t mind, for their citizens.

good luck

Car in Pakistan.....

Hey....
You are best to speak to customs in Islamabad because you are not strictly allowed to leave your car in Pakistan if you leave without their approval. I have left vehicles with them many times over last 6 years. They are usually very kind and helpful. Without them you may find trouble leaving the country if your passport is stamped with an entry for the car.
Hope this helps,
Jon

The tourist camp is safe next to the diplomatic area, just look after the guards there and it will be safe.
