Hi Robert,
I can confirm that camping sites in Thailand other than National Parks are very rare - the problem with National Parks is the cost of entry, between 200 and 400 baht per person, plus camping fees. Whilst travelling between Bangkok and Malaysia you should head for costal roads away from big towns and you will be able to park on waste land or beach side quite safely.

As for a hotel in Bangkok, it depends on your budget, but I would advise staying on the outskirts but close to either the skytrain or the underground. One recommendation would be the Ibis Riverside, it has a big enough car park, is easy to find on the south side of the river, near the skytrain, with easy access to the south of Thailand. Most guest houses I know in Bangkok do not have parking.

When you leave Bangkok if you would like to stay in Hua Hin [250Kms south of Bangkok] get in touch, we have parking space and your welcome to use our shower, washing machine etc.

Enjoy the LOS

Hi Joyce and Mark
Thanks for the response, Yes we have been camping in the National Parks. In bangkok we stayed at the Cottage in Lat Prabang, a gem very nice people and for 1000 Bath a room/shower and breakfast, this place has a perfect pool and is a 50 bath ride from the Skyway. Next we go to the River Kwai and the area near Helfire Pass. from there we do travel south. Our first stop on the coast would be Cha-Am.
Cheers Robert and Clary

Hi Joyce and Mark
We really like to thank you for the tremendous welcome you have given us while we were in Hua Hin. Not to mention the best pork chops in Thailand.
We also enjoyed meeting you again in Khao Lak. Where you stayed 5 star and we stayed 4 wheels. Hope that Jaques and Mandy made it to Hua Hin by now. Will sent them a mail tomorrow. We are now at Ko Lantha and found another perfect deserted beach for our truck. (4 wheel resort) Also many thanks for all the info.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
