Motorcycle oil availability in Tehran, Iran

I am currently stuck in Tehran and am desperately hunting for oil (I brought filters and have all the tools, so a garage would be nice, but is not neccessary). My KTM is a bit bitchy when it comes to oil brands (clutch slipping badly etc), so I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get high quality synthetic 4 stroke motorcycle oil, preferably 10W50 or 15W50. I already tried the car parts places near Emam Khomeini Sq, but to no avail :-( Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If by "the car places near Imam Khomenei sq" you mean Amir Kabir street then the following will not be of any help to you.

But, at the corner of Amir Kabir and Sadi I remember seeing a large shop with a good selection of oil. In fact, there were a few along Amir Kabir if you walk east (about a half dozen) from the square.

Good luck!

By the way, apparently the BMW shop are very helpful in Tehran. I'm sure they could point you in the right direction.

Just try any garage/repair type place, they should have a stock of oils. They always let me change the oil myself in these places (in Iran and elsewhere) and usually gave me a tray for the oil which they got rid of for me. Better than dumping it yourself as at least they'll have the facilities to do it properly.

Hi Sirakor,

Go to the main BMW agent/importer in Tehran. A man called Mr Nouriani (Nouriani Enterprises) He is one of life gentlemen. We were there last year and he serviced our BMW's gave us lunch, let us use his personal laptop to Email home, all without charge!! Can't guarentee you will get the same but he definately has full synthetic oil (BMW Stuff) and a great personal collection of bikes that's worth seeing anyway. His chief mechanic is a man called Hamid Kianpisheh who speaks excellent english and is also so helpfull it's embarassing. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I did mean Amir Kabir in my original post, but they sell mainly car oils which lead to a slipping clutch in my KTM (due to their additives). I have managed to find oil in the meantime however, and changed it at a roadside car garage as suggested above. I'll be stuck here for a few more days waiting for my new Turkmeni transit visa (old one expired before I got there), so if you're in Tehran and want to meet, give me a shout.
