Hi Niels,

I've ridden my Malaysian registered bike into Thailand with no carnet and no problems, therefore I'd assume the opposite was possible. Obviously bike must be registered in your name and you have a valid riving licence. Insurance can be bought at the border. Not sure about a Thai bike in Indonesia though...good luck.

Hi..

I'm a Malaysian. For Thais registered veh, you don't need carnet but you have to buy separate insurance coverage but the same is not applicable to Indonesia.

Amran

Hello again Niels,
We know of Australians who have Thai registered bikes and go back and forth between Thailand and Malaysia with out any difficulty. We have entered Thailand on Australian registered bikes both with and without a carnet.
Indonesia changes the rules each day and I cant tell you the latest with them.
