Leaving Thailand without my Bike
 

Hi,

My family has just suffered a bereavement whilst I'm on the road, currently in Thailand.

I need some advise regarding the possibility of flying back to the UK and leaving my bike here in Thailand for a bit.

It was originally stamped into my passport when I got it out of customs in Bangkok but I have since left Thailand and re-entered from Cambodia, thus I have an import/export piece of paper.

Do you think it would just be best to leave my bike somewhere trustworthy here (Red Baron Bangkok maybe?) book a return flight and hope no-one official notices or is there a stupidly longwinded paperwork procedure to go through?

sorry to hear about your familly, i guess the best way rite now to leave you bike behind. i've been following someone report at facebook, he is rite now at phillipines... he's been leaving a bike before YAMAHA TTR250 At BANGKOK. maybe you can contact him for trustworthy place.

Can't advise with the paperwork problem but can offer a safe place to leave your bike, we are in Hua Hin which is a two and a half hour ride south of Bangkok, its easy enough to get a minibus back to the airport. I have left Thailand several times into Burma to renew my visa and nobody has ever questioned me about the bike. Try and get an extension on your temp import before leaving and then be back before it expires. If you don't you will have to pay a small fine. Whatever you do make sure your bike leaves before 6 months are up.
