Leaving bike in Russia and Storage

Hi to All!

Does anyone know if you can leave your in Russia and return to it latter or is it like some countries where it is entered in your passport and difficult if not impossible. If you can leave them there does anyone know of storage facilities in Vladivostok??

Thanks for your help and happy riding
Malcolm

Hi Malcom,
last yaer we have been in Russia and crossed it with our two bikes from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok. Even if you don't have the bike in your passport you will get a permit for it. This permit is good for 2 month. You can make a extension in each big town with a custom. We made a extension for 4 month and payed about US$ 10,00. We made it in Tomsk and got big help from the local biker. You really need this permit to get out of Russia with your bike.
In Vladivostok are the motorcycle club Iron Tigers. This bikers know everything about storage a bike and how to deal with the customs. We are sure they will give you a hand.
Don't worry. The russian bikers are a big family and help as good as they can.
Good Luck
Kerstin and Volker

dear Malcolm.
I'm live in Russia, near Vladivostok.
If you need any help in my region (or other regions of Russia), you can talk about it here: http://easyriders.fastbb.ru/?-0
Don't worry, you can speak English in this forum - most peoples understand you.
Good Luck.
Shustrik.

Malcom, i was on a tourist visa and could not extend it under any circumstances. I had to leave with the bike as well, even if it was taken out on a train. cheers

Dear Shustrik.
Do you have any idea what will happen if I turn up on the Russian border with a tourist visa and a motor bike. Do I have to be part of a sponsored state tour and have a guide? Or do they make sure your tourist visa is ok and then across you go on your bikes?
Any Idea.

We have been to the Russian consulate in Australia and they just laughed and werent that helpful at all. I would like to hear it from your point of view, seeings that you live in Russia.

Do you know if I can get a visa on the border at all?

Regards Scott and Laura.

Scott and Laura, You must get your visa before attempting to enter Russia. Its easy to get and LOI from St Petersburg International Hostel. State where you intend to go and end up with one night in St Pete and 29 in Moscow! In reality there are no restrictions travelling around Russia by bike. I got a tourist visa in Australia.

When you get to the border they will stamp your passports and make you fill out a customs declaration. They will also give you a document that covers the motorbike, they will also sell you some insurance.

When you leave you must hand over the documents given to you on entry. Theoretically you cannot leave the country with more cash than you entered with..so becareful here. More Stamps!! and your away.

If your in Melb feel free to get in touch
