Leaving bike in Nepal

I am riding from London to Melbourne and I am keen to leave the bike in Nepal for 3 weeks for the Christmas period and fly home. I am currently in Tajikistan and there is no reference of my bike in my passport. Does anyone know if there is any reference between your passport and bike in Nepal? I will be entering Nepal from India.

Answer is: no. (per experience in May 2007.) Nothing in passport.

As for the vehicle paperwork, they didn't use the CPD and they don't have an alternate system, but I did get some other form at customs after arrival at Kathmandu airport which was checked on exit at Mahendraggar. Pretty much just free-form, handwritten stuff.

Great thanks for the info. I have found many countries now also have a computer system which link your passport to your rego no. Kyrgystan and Tajikistan don't care about the bike but most of the Middle East also had the computer system.

I will book a flight home. :thumbup1:

It completely slipped my mind that I was riding my bike across the border between India/Nepal. I had to walk back through customs and totally forgot about the road tax there is in Nepal. You know, the 100 rupees a day you're supposed to pay in Nepal for using their roads.

If I had my bike with me, I would've had to pay that. Sometimes I can be so stupid. Sorry, Nepal. The check is in the mail.
