Smile Youtube vids riding through Iran, Pakistan, India, SE Asia, Aus, NZ, etc

I've posted some video on youtube that we shot whilst riding home from UK - NZ through Asia - thought you might like to get an idea of what the riding conditions are like in places like Iran, Pakistan, India, SE Asia, Aus, etc:

Glad you liked the vids.

Advice - smile & wave alot (makes kids drop stones & wave back rather than throwing them). The worlds a friendly place.

Drive assertively & use your horn ALOT, but be prepared to get out of the way of anything.

Most of all - have fun

Hi Guys

We too, happy to found your vids as we are leaving from Thailand towards to INdia and then pakistan, Iran and have to say after looking those vids,,,so funny to see that driving in middle east is nothing different when comparing Thai rural area driving..

Intresting question was cam from @Cam@ it has been in my head now last few months,, Budget,,budget,, what should be prepared, then in the money situation travelers cheques? and those sort of things,, any advice from Money, cash and that sort of things are apriciated.

oh yeah almost forgot,, our RTW will early 2010 or late 2009 from Bkk,air lift bike to India, Chennai then via route to Europe and North-Cape..but whole plan is under trip planing...

Thai traffic is actually relatively easy, except Bangkok maybe. India and Pakistan are a lot worse, especially India, which is total madness, everywhere all the time. Iran is a bit like Thailand, because it has fast expressways, where when theres an accident, its usually a bad one. In all these countries you find some erratic drivers, drunk driving, etc., but India still has by far the heaviest traffic and most insane driving. Riding strictly in the daytime only will raise your odds of surviving considerably.

About money: Iran = outside Tehran, no cards, no travellers cheques, just plain cold cash. Luckily its dirt cheap to travel. I changed some 300 US-dollars into rials, and the bank had only some smaller notes left, so ended up with a 10cm stack of Iranian money, didnt know where to put them!

Yep, I carried my Iranian stash around in a plastic bag as it couldn't fit in my wallet

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
