KTM Amritsar
 

A word of warning for fellow KTM riders unfortunate enough to break down in Northern India: whatever you do, avoid the local KTM dealership in Amritsar like the plague.

I brought in my 990 ADV with a whole list of troubles and although they only sell the little 200cc Dukes, the manager assured me that they could fix my bike. They didn't have any parts but I got those from Dubai without issues. Putting the bike back together was a different experience. They basically screwed up more than they fixed. Not strange in hindsight as their favorite tool is the hammer... Long story short, I had to transport the bike on a truck to Delhi and fly it to Bangkok where KTM can fix it (Insallah...)

I lost quite a bit of money and more importantly time. Which could have been avoided if KTM Amritsar wouldn't have lied about ther capabilities of fixing 990s. I could then have flown it to BKK directly without losing / wasting time

The KTM orange of the Amritsar dealership is a sight for sore eyes but it turned out to a siren call...

Avoid unless you ride a 200 Duke...
