Iran transit document

I entered Iran a few days ago with my 4x4 (with a Carnet de Passage and a 26 day Tourist visa), and was given a document basically stating I had 7 days to follow a fixed route from the Turkmenistan border to that with Pakistan. I told the guy that I was planning to stay far longer, and he said "no problem". I have bought insurance for two months, and plan to stay this long. No police, save for those as i left the border, have asked for the document, though I've only driven about 300km.

From other travellers with cars in Iran I get the impression they give you loads of documents at the border, but they can be ignored (most people don't bother getting the transit plates, I was not even asked to do this).

Can anyone reassure me that I will not be asked for this document by police (I think I am going to lose it)

Thanks

Daniel

I've never heard of the document or transit plates. At the Mirjaveh border they didn't ask for them, either. The most you will ever have to show in the country is your passport with valid visa.
