Iran to Pakistan by Train

Dear All

Has anyone tried getting the train from Zahedan/Iran or Taftan/Pakistan to Quetta with motorcycle?

I will be doing the crossing mid June and as the security situation changes from day to day it is one of the options that I am considering.

If any one know any info on this train ie schedule etc it would be greatly appriciated.

Probably of not much help, but: I have in mind the train between Zahedan and Quetta leaves only once a month.

Did not try it, just a piece of information that I remembered while reading your post

I met a couple of travelers that said they would use the train to get their bikes across great distances in India, so I'm assuming that it may be common in Pak as well.

I took the train from Dalbandin to Taftan in '89 and it broke down in the desert. In those days it ran twice a week. Nobody was allowed to stay on the train as it crossed the border.

On the security side, tourists are not a target of the tribes people, but govt. installations may well be, and the trains are run by the govt.
