For tyres see the last entry here: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000099.html

Try contacting the Turkish communities, link on the left under Community.

Where in TR are you right now? Is your bike broken?

henri, je t ai repondu perso, pr en faire profiter les autres, je mets plus d info ici.

as beddhist wrote and on the link he mentioned, your best chance to find tyres is in istanbul.

from my experience in those countries over there in 2002-2003 :

1- in tehran, you can go to bmw dealer and ask them where you can find tyres, they are always helpfull. there are some official or non official yamaha shops but for small bikes (if i remember well).

nouriani bmw
nouriani bldg, 91
iranshahr av.
teheran
tel : (0098-21) 88 23 984-8
fax : (0098-21) 88 34 999
email : nouriani@bmw.ir et hamidki {{att]] yahoo dott com
you can ask for hamid kianpisheh.

there s a special bike district in tehran, you can find second hand top tyres if you re lucky (michelin etc ...) and new tyres like "vee rubber" (not bad and cheap) for our kind ob bikes (big bikes), because in iran, > 200 cc bikes are forbidden for "security" reasons.

2- if you go to pakistan, india after iran : no big chance to find new or second hand tyres (i did not manage) ... see on the forums here, to have a better idea.

3- if you go to central asia after iran : same same ... but i managed to find second hand tyres, it s time consuming but you meet local bikers always helpfull and you can spend a good time with them. turkemistan, kirghistan : no real bike market. ouzbekistan : same maybe a bit better. kazakhstan : in almaty, there are a bmw (with little bit bike experience) and a yamaha dealers (with big bikes, their experience ?). tadjikistan, afghanistan : i ve not been but i guess it s same as turkmenistan.

4- in iran, remeber you can t use credit card, so in turkey, withdraw more and enough money. Before iran, i was in turkmenistan, after iran, i was going to pakistan : so i withdrew 2 months money budget in ashgabat (1000 usd, around 500 usd per month) before entering iran. i met a german boy in iran, he did not know it and have a lot of preoblems to find a suitable solution. In iran, the traffic starts being really hectic, be careful, it s getting worse in pakistan and india. central asia : no traffic prob, they are more "respectfull"

good luck, have fun,

nb : even more info and details on each country on my website :

ps : beddhist, i wish you a good trip, i saw your message elsewhere on the forum about afam chains and sprokets : ask henri, he is sponsored by them and is using a special chain and special sprokets "that last for ever" ...

happy trails

Thank you all for your answer, especýally Vincent http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif

I eventually bought Pirelli MT 60 ýn Istambul, for 85 euros, may be not the best tyres but suitable for the moment ( no more Metzeler).
My Mýchelýn Sirac are quýte tired now after 7000km and wýll soon need to be replaced.

Keep on in Iran,
Henri

as i wrote you personnally, by email, here s an other complement of info for others.

you seem to use your tyres quite fast, so try to get some in turkey/iran, before going to central asia or pakistan india.

1- if you can, travel with a spare set of tyres behind you on your seat.

or

2- send by mail a set of tyres somewhere in central asia or pakistan india : french embassies (if you need emails of people at french embassies, i can send you privately) or other places. also, with your "MB" letter, at any embassy, they should help you, give you email adresses and welcome your tyres, even maybe use the diplomatic bag/case.

3- ask in advance, if you can, at yamaha and bmw almaty if they have tyres. sorry i didn t keep the business card of yamaha almaty (do a google search, yamaha.com or yamaha.kz ...), here s the info about bmw almaty :

autocenter bavaria
147, raymbec
480016 almaty
kazakhstan
tel : +7 (3272) 500 022, 507 177
fax : +7 (3272) 399 502
email : bavaria [[a-t]] bmw dott kz
contact arseniy (sales dpt): mobile : 8 300 766 4337
tel : +7 (3272) 39 05 50, 39 02 67
fax : +7 (3272) 391 420
email : bavaria [[at]] bmw dott kz
contact eric lim (general manager) : tel : 007 3272 50 00 22, mobile : 007 333 222 9110

as i wrote before, this info is from end 2002 and bmw almaty had little experience with bikes.

so maybe double check on internet (do a google search, bmw.com or bmw.kz ...)

also, i remember that we had a few posts on the hubb here when alec simpson had his gearbox problems in russia/central asia ... it must be somewhere, with more info

as written before also, more info on my website about those countries, especially garages etc ...

happy trails

This is the answer to find tyre in Tehran. They give me a fair price: 145 euros for Vee Rubber (made in thailand). Good mechanical service as well. Very friendly people who really like motorbike: they know what they speak about!

Motoran Shop
No 20- Javadi Parking., Javadi Alley
Molavi Street. Razi Sq. Tehran, Iran
tel: 912 144 22 20 ask for HADI
tel: 912 14 300 79, ask for Saed.

Have a nice road!
