Indonesia - Good Bike Shop?

Hello all,
I've been searching the net and even messaging Indonesian's on Friendster.com trying to locate a retailer in JAVA/Sumatra of good quality Trail bikes a la TTR 250 or XR250 for a 4-5 month island hopping jaunt. Its a problem not speaking the Bahasa - that'll be a problem for another few months -and so far have only sourced the bureaucratic difficulties entailed. Most of this info can be found if one googles Indonesia Expatriot and follows the links to Driving.
Not much info on the Hubb about Indonesia but hope someone can help, dont believe using the locally manufactured Japanese bikes is viable given some of the roads I encountered in Sulawesi and Borneo, way to restrictive.
Hoping to hear back
Mick

On Java only you can buy a brand new KLX 250 with fuel injection. Perfect for Indo. Saw them in just about every Kawa show room I peeked into.

Not sure what you mean about the locally available bikes. As far as I can tell they can go where I can't ride my overloaded DR650.

Are you planning on renting or buying?

The KLX250 is the no 1 offroad bike you can get here in Indonesia built in Thailand and availbale at around 4000Euro.

Other options are chinese build 'offroad' bikes (dont go near them) or the older 2-stroke suzuki ts which are good fun. And last but not least the local honda / yamaha / suzuki / kawa etc 100cc bikes, spotted all over indonesia.

If they can why cant you? Very solid and dealers everywhere. You'll need some skill driving this offroad on roadtyres, more about balance and chosing your lines rarther then gassing it out on your high-powered enduro. But how much really are you going offroad on a long trip??

For renting KLXs try this guy: Archipelago Adventure or otherwise a mate of mine in Bali is selling his KLX...
