Indian visa

Hi all,

We have a very strange problem. We tried to apply for the indian visa. They refused us because we are an unmarried couple. They say that india doesn't issue visas for unmarried couples.

Additionally they require round-trip plate tickets and hotel reservations for the whole trip. They didn't even wanted to hear about entering overland from Pakistan...

Anybody else had such problems ? It seems that the indian visa is more difficult than the iranian visa.

This is very unusual... which embassy / high comission did you approach? What type of visa are you applying for? It shouldn't matter whether you are married or not, as each visa application is totally separate. Try sending them separately perhaps?

But I've never heard of requiring hotel confirmations? Overland travel is normally fine...

Perhaps try a visa agency. To be honest though, this sounds so unusual I would just try again. Unless you are appplying somewhere strange (e.g. Iran / Pakistan)
