Martyn,

The weather should be perfect in August. It will be the tail end of the monsoon, but it usually rains overnight, making for cool, fresh days (30 to 35C).

Goa, Karnataka and Kerala are my favourite states in India with beautifully lush, green countryside covered in coconut palms. Southern Indians are very friendly people and the towns/villages tend to be much cleaner than in the northern states.

I'm sure you'll have great time there. If you have any more questions, drop me an email.

Harvey

Spiti River Valley

If you get to India, make sure to ride the Spiti River Valley. You will be riding roads like this!!

Get to Manali and hire a bike if you can.

The weather is hot most of the year with variations from region to region. The coolest weather lasts from around December to February, with fresh mornings and evenings and mostly sunny days. The really hot weather, when it is dry, dusty and unpleasant, is between March and June. Monsoon rains occur in most regions in summer anywhere between June and early October.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
