india (silly question)

I'm off to ride about goa for a few weeks and I'm having a kit nightmare. Ive got too much as usual.
I'm flying out there and hiring a bike, can anyone advise on what kit to take. for example can you hire a helmet out there would you advise me taking my MX boots or just caterpillar work boots or even a pair of shorts and trainers as all can be hired there.

i'd suggest you take your own helmet, gloves (light/mx type) jacket (light, without liner?), jeans, and walking/work boots. definitely do not rely on an indian helmet. they are worse than useless.

it'll be hot, but you'll want to be protected.

enjoy,

I will probably receive a thorough thrashing for this... but India slowly creeps into your skin and before you know it I found myself wearing plastic sandals and no helmet.

You can easily find closed toe shoes here. If you are a very good safe rider then do bring your helmet. If you don't mind a lose fitting helmet then you can buy one for $10 or less here. If you have a big head, actually, it might fit you fine. I'm an xtra small.

I wouldn't fret about cloths and things unless you are being dropped by parachute into a tiny remote village you can get everything you need here.

Enjoy!

thanks for all the info, I'm now back and to be honset I rode a honda pulsar 150 or 180cc which was fine and cheap to run/hire. As for the clothers etc, all I wore was a T shirt and sandals like everyone else which in retrospect was silly of me. The roads I found a bit mad and only hired after a week there so i got used to the rules of beeping and cutting /being cut up by people. all was good and hope to get away ASAP.

One thing i may add is I find renting when you get there a lot cheaper and easier than riding there but if I had the time and money it would be worth the experience by a long shot.
