India-Pakistan border crossing with Indian registered motorb
 

planning to take my enfield from delhi to north east pakistan. has anybody any info on crossing the border into pakistan with an indian registered bike, thanks

From what I have read here from other travellers your bike needs to be legally registered in your name, i.e. you are an Indian resident. Papers in your name and you need a carnet de passages. See Carnet link on the left.

there is also 2 other swiss guys who managed it without all the hassle...but with a lot of bargaining and talks at the border. the best thing is to try your luck at the border, and if you can't make it..follow Jules advices

the link i just mentionned was to travel thru pakistan. it will be much more difficult for you to ride pakistan with an indian registered bike. all the bikers comming from india had to put their bikes on the train at least until you reach Queta. travelling north i a different story i guess. but you can still try with a temporay import license.

I know a few guys who have crossed Pakistan on Indian registered Enfields. They all had to transport the bikes to Quetta, then ride from there because they didn´t (couldn´t) have a carnet for the bikes. I have met a guy who bribed his bike across the border and rode up the KKH, but this was quite a while ago and i haven´t heard of anyone doing this recently.

Thanks. I am not an Indian resident so getting a Carnet is not possible according to what I read. Still looking for a way around it.
