HELP!!! Buy/rent Thailand/Malaysia!!!???

I'm new here so please tell me if posted this the wrong place :)

Two friends and I want to travel Malaysia and Indonesia on motorbike this summer, but we REALLY need some help on where to get the bikes??????

Originally we wanted to start i Kuala Lumpur and head south, but it seems impossible to both rent or buy at reasonable prices in Malaysia.

SO!: We plan to go into southern Thailand and drive south. We have a budget that says about 850$ pr. month for the bike. We've heard it is best to buy, - BUT BUT BUT! Is it possible and WHERE? to buy 200cc or above motorbikes for maxiumum 850$ ??? AND WHERE!? We've been searching the internet for days now :(

Should be possible in Phuket I think... could be possible in Malaysia or Indonesia, too (but especially in Indo it´ll be very hard to find anything that isnt between about 50-150cc. Mostly small bikes all over Asia.

Crossing the borders with a bought or rented bike is another thing. Between Thai / Malaysia it seemed very relaxed, so that might work even if its a rental, or you dont have all papers ok. But Indonesia could be very tough to get a foreign bike into, definitely need to have the papers 100%, and still could be problematic!

The easiest way would probably be to fly between the countries and rent from each place.. or if you got lots of time, then maybe even buy/sell.
